The Golf Club of Texas
About
The best testament one can give The Golf Club of Texas (formerly known as The Golf Club of Texas at Briggs Ranch) is that it hosts some big local tournaments. The large greens and tee boxes are some of the very best San Antonio has to offer. This is truly a high end facility. If you have not been out to enjoy this course you really need to. The place is all greened up and with the unique landscaping it's just a real pretty experience with great golf. The golf carts are outfitted with GPS which gives accurate distance to the pin and shows the contours of the greens. This track combines Links Style golf with Hill Country golf, giving players a taste of both types of golf. The course is among the best that San Antonio has to offer. The senior staff is very experienced and the service is all that you would expect at a high-value public course. The new clubhouse is beautiful and features a full service restaurant. After playing a round, you will really enjoy just sitting on the porch and taking in the view.

Papa & Grandson
The course is in Pristine shape cannot wait to play there again…
Overbooked
This course is overbooked, and the pace of place is extremely slow. There’s no marshall to monitor this. Numerous singles are zipping around, aggressively wanting to play through, while large groups (up to 5) are trying to learn to play golf on the course. They have no etiquette and make no effort to play at a reasonable pace. Finishing 18 under 4.5 hrs is impossible. We like this course a lot and used to love to play here, but we will not be back.
Greens were firm and bumpy. Range was trash. Pro shop staff didn’t want to be there. A lot of areas on golf course in bad shape and need attention.
Nice round
Best shape I have ever seen this course. Guessing all of the rain in May and early June have really helped the course. Greens are still pretry hard and don't hold very well. Fairways were great.
Nice Update
The course is in pretty good shape. Greens are quick, tee boxes are in good shape and the fairways are decent. One area of improvement is around the greens. A couple of the bunkers were hard towards the middle, there were obvious water leaks on a few holes (a wayward tee shot on a par three splashed landed 15 feet away from the green with no water on the hole), and shots just off the greens landed in what looked like St. Augustine grass. There are also quite a few tee shots that would benefit from a 150 marker, especially for those who have not played the course. The carts do not have GPS nor a ball/club washer. I would not pay full price to play here, but for less than $30, I would return.
Just killin time
Course is in great condition (due to rain). But dont hit the rough or in the recovery areas ( will not find balls). Greens were good and not as quick in spring. I was able to tee off early so that's a plus....good bar for afterwards...
Friendliness
The chiefs are great and the food menu is amazing!
No Marshall on Course
Marshal was great to separate tee times on #1, but no one to regulate on the course. Many players jumping from hole to hole. It was like a free for all. Course is in great shape for the most part. Greens are immaculate. Value for the round was amazing. Would definitely play again and tell friends.
No communication with guests
Club was flooded by rain the night before. They sent us off the back nine still muddy and wet. Should have advised at club house when signing in, they did Not. Would not return money since purchased via Golf Now.
Slow pace
The course was fairly easy, most holes seemed similar although there were some water features and bunkers that added interest. The pace seemed really slow - we had guys in front of us who were so bad, we wondered why they would want to pay to play golf. Other than that, it was an enjoyable afternoon.
Visually beautiful but unforgiving
Pretty place but a bit tough for a high-handicapper like me. Lost balls if you spray it around. Rolling hills so you rarely have a flat lie. Well maintained traps and flawless, consistent greens, nice natural water features. Would love to play here again if it wasn't so dang unforgiving. Maybe I should go practice instead of complaining ;-P.
