Mission del Lago Golf Course is nestled along the shores of Mitchell Lake across the flat lands of San Antonio’s south side. The golf course has a traditional links-style layout, meaning trees are sparse and windy, wide open spaces are abundant. The challenging golf course features more than a hundred sand traps and water hazards come into play on 10 holes. There are also multi-tiered greens, most of which are fast and undulating, and dry creek beds coming into play that require keen short game skills and careful strategy. The gusty Texas winds are probably the most challenging factor, though. Mission del Lago Golf Course is tricky, but five sets of tees give players of all skill levels a chance to play.

Really feel sorry for this place. They'll do enough to keep it going, but they might want to turn it into a deer/hog lease. On the 3rd hole tee box the groundskeeper showed us a hog trap with a big fat black hog ready to be removed for processing. Greens are smooth, but that's it. There are actually certain parts of the fair way that if you hit them, you'll have a nice lie for an approach, but off the fairway and you better have an old club to get you back in position. Tee boxes and shabby. Lots of weeds moving in. They have a kitchen, but it was 10 am, and the lady told us she didn't have breakfast tacos. C'mon now. This is San Antonio!. I'm going to pray for this place to get better, but it has a lot going agains it.
