Pecan Valley Golf Course sprawls across 200 scenic acres covered with towering oaks and pecan trees with the Salado Creek meandering through its layout. There is a historic marker on the golf course commemorating the 100-foot high live oak that has stood there for over 800 years, nicknamed the "Burnt Oak." The ideal landscape is complemented by the challenging design that incorporates strategically placed bunkers and doglegs throughout. The creek comes into play five times on the front nine and three times on the back. Many consider the 14th, a par 4 requiring a carry over water to a dogleg-right fairway with trees and a lake to the right, but the second is also touted as the best and most challenging. This par 4 has a bunker to the left, but the true difficulty lies in the approach, which has to carry to an elevated green with a false front.
