The course has hosted several Texas Opens and many local amateur tournaments over the years and has been enjoyed by several famous golfers including Sam Snead and Ben Hogan. By today's standards Willow Springs Golf Course might seem pretty straightforward, but do not be fooled. The course's par-5 second hole is the longest in the entire city at 663 yards. There are also long, open fairways and a variety of elevation changes throughout the golf course. The popular Willow Springs course is located in eastern San Antonio, only about a 10-minute drive from San Antonio's famous Riverwalk.

- I played this course 3-21-13 and it was in great shape, pretty challanging, tight , and great staff, for the price cant go wrong. I'll be backThe greens on this course are as good as any other course in the San Antonio area, public or private. Yes, you read that correctly. The fairways are fair. The course is priced reasonably. Not sure who he or she is, but the greens keeper at this place does a great job.after much rain the course looks and plays great. Grass hides balls well; no cracks in the earth; water hazards are real hazards and hole #2 is still a great challenge. The personnel is very friendly and helpful making it all worth while going back to play at Willow. It has some open fairways for the beginner and closed fairways and challenging dog legs for the better players.Just moved into area and read the reviews so was geared to have an unfriendly greeting. NOT SO!. The pro shop personnel were very friendly. The course is in great shape. Did not have a tee time but they filled us in very quickly. Liked it so much went back the next day and played it again. Personnel still friendly.Greens really good, course was in on shape good priceI love living in San Antonio where you can golf 12 mos out of the year. Add to that the number of golf courses open to the public and it's "12 mos in Utopia!"
However, don't waste a single thought on the munies! The only thing worse than the course conditions is the attitudes of the employees. I've actually been treated better walking into Oak Hills and asking to play without the sponsorship of a member.
You will find dilapidated golf carts; unkempt bunkers and generally poor conditions on these courses. And you pay almost as much to play on these as you do at the daily fee courses with far better conditions where your patronage is appreciated.
Enjoy golf in San Antonio, everywhere but the municipals!
