Visitors to San
Antonio want my opinion of what courses they should play while they are here. Tough question... because there are lot's of super courses in San Antonio. On the left, I have only listed public courses where everyone is made to feel welcome. It's most important to me that the staff is user friendly. If the staff is not helpful or stuck-up, they will not be listed! So what I have done is list the courses that I personally enjoy. I would guess that I am about the most average golfer you might find. I am a senior, hit a drive about 230 and a nine iron about 120. I am pleased if I can score a 90 on any of these courses. I'm ecstatic if I break 90. So I do not play from the back tees and I like the new, softer, 80 compression ball. Since I just had Roter Cuff surgery on my shoulder, I really like the ones advertised as having a center core of 50 compression and an 80 compression outer core. You do the math, I do words. email me at golfhappy@sanantoniogolf.com and I'll give you the brand name. All I know is that it's the best ball for me and I think
that anyone except a scratch golfer without at least a 115 MPH swing speed who hits a 100
compression ball need to rethink the game. All this talk about new illegal clubs
with a built in "spring" in the face don't seem to mention that a person needs
to have swing speed of 115 mph to get anything additional out of the club. Anyway, here are the courses I would play. If you are playing hill-country golf for the first time, bring lots of extra balls. I mean lots! The list is not in any particular order. I would play any of them any day and be very pleased to be out there. Enjoy San Antonio Golf, Larry Farlow |
